The short version
This website sets zero cookies, no essential cookies, no preference cookies, no statistics cookies, no marketing cookies. It also uses no localStorage, no sessionStorage, and no similar tracking technologies. That is why you don't see a cookie consent banner: there is nothing to consent to.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to store on your device. They can be useful (keeping you logged in, remembering a language choice) or invasive (tracking your browsing across thousands of sites to build an advertising profile). EU law, the ePrivacy Directive together with the GDPR, requires websites to ask for your consent before setting any cookie that isn't strictly necessary.
2. Why we don't use them
visit.eu.org has no logins, no shopping cart, no ads, and no analytics. Nothing on this site needs to remember you between visits, so nothing is stored on your device. This is a deliberate design decision, not an accident:
- The trip planner keeps its state in the page's memory only, close the tab and it's gone.
- Fonts and all other assets are served from our own domain, so no third party gets the chance to set cookies through us.
- We measure nothing. We would rather have no visitor statistics than track our visitors.
- One footnote: the contact page uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam. Per Cloudflare it sets no tracking cookies; it runs only on that single page and nowhere else.
3. Don't take our word for it
You can verify this claim in about ten seconds:
- Open your browser's developer tools (usually F12 or right-click → "Inspect").
- Go to the Application tab (Chrome/Edge) or Storage tab (Firefox).
- Look under "Cookies" for visit.eu.org, the list is empty. localStorage and sessionStorage are empty too.
- Bonus: check the Network tab, every request goes to visit.eu.org and nowhere else.
4. If this ever changes
If we ever introduce a feature that genuinely needs a cookie (for example remembering a language preference), we will update this page first, use it only for that stated purpose, and, if the cookie is not strictly necessary, ask for your consent before setting it, as EU law requires.
